Derek McInnes was frustrated with the lack of chances against West Ham United

Rangers hope to announce another signing within 48 hours, with manager Derek McInnes teasing a second by the time his side open their season away to Dundee United on Friday.

But Nicolas Raskin will not be involved as the Belgium midfielder is only expected back from his break after the World Cup this week and with Rangers anticipating transfer interest in the 25-year-old.

Rangers have already brought in seven new players this summer, but a defender and winger appear to be McInnes' priorities.

"We are quite hopeful we've got one done at the minute and hopefully we'll have some news on that in the next 48 hours and we're also trying to maybe bring one more in if we can for Friday night," he said.

Who has your Premiership club brought in & let go this summer?

"I would really like that to be the case because I do think it one or two areas of the pitch we're still a bit short.

"One will be permanent, one might be a loan, but we would like two permanent."

McInnes lamented the lack of chances created in Sunday's final pre-season friendly - a goalless draw at home to West Ham United.

"It is just those difference makers," he said. "I think a club like ours needs to have those guys who can isolate and go one v one and can play off both sides.

"So we are looking for a bit more creativity that can serve the strikers.

"I think we've got strikers in Nadiri, Chermiti, Shankland and Miovski who can all finish off chances.

"Maybe only Chermiti is capable of creating an opportunity for himself. But Ryan, Lawrence and Bojan are very much dependent on service."

Meanwhile, McInnes feels "a bit short in terms of numbers defensively" with four games in 12 days.

"I think we had five senior defenders available there and Ross McCrorie's just opened up his knee a bit and we didn't take any risk with him today," he said.

Rangers have signed three defensive midfielders this summer in anticipation of selling Raskin.

Asked if the Belgian would be involved at Tannadice, McInnes said: "Not for the opening part of the season he won't, but going forward, Nico might be subject to some interest, we are well aware of that.

"We always thought he could be a flight risk this summer on the back of the World Cup, so we've reinforced the midfield area.

"But obviously if nothing comes in for Nico then it's another good player to add to it."

Asked if there were any imminent outgoings, McInnes added: "There's been a wee bit of interest in one or two without naming names."
